SLAVE TO AMBITION

Slave to Ambition was inspired by the flashy, image-obsessed energy I found myself surrounded by after moving to Los Angeles in the late ’90s.

At the time, there was this larger-than-life woman named Angelyne who was famous all over LA for her giant billboards, bright pink Corvette, and famously exaggerated "talents". I never met her, but to me, she was a symbol of Hollywood’s obsession with fame, beauty, and status.

As a young musician trying to find my own path, I was frustrated by how much attention was placed on image over talent or substance.

​

That frustration became the heart of “Slave to Ambition.”
